RE: Release of EDconnect V 5.2.0 and Supporting Documentation
DATE: September 3, 2002
We are pleased to announce the posting of EDconnect v5.2.0 and its supporting documentation on the Department's SFAdownload Web site (located at http://www.fsadownload.ed.gov/softedconnect.htm). We strongly encourage you to download the latest version due to the functionality and query enhancements that have been implemented.
In response to feedback received from customers, we have created a pop-up option when your network password expires. This feature will offer you the choice to immediately change the password bringing up the appropriate window for your convenience. For all other error messages, EDconnect v5.2.0 will offer a brief explanation of the error and point you to the EDconnect 5.X Error Code List for further details. This document, located at http://www.fsadownload.ed.gov/softedconnect.htm , offers you resources for troubleshooting, as well as tips compiled by CPS/WAN Technical Support. Customers have found this listing very helpful in resolving issues on their own.
Using EDconnect v5.2.0 may also significantly decrease your total transmission time. While the actual transmission has not changed, the mailbox query portion of the transmission process was enhanced for greater speed. This will be especially noticeable for those of you using high volume mailboxes.
The EDconnect Installation Guide, Version 5.2.0 Cover Letter, and the EDconnect Error Code List are also available on the SFAdownload Web site. Each document contains important information you should review after downloading the software.
EDconnect v5.2.0 is available on the SFAdownload Web site in two formats. You can download the entire software in one file, called EDcon520.exe, or you can download the software in nine separate "disk" installment files, which can be copied to a network drive or diskettes. Please review the download and installation instructions in the EDconnect Installation Guide for further information.
If you need assistance connecting to the SFAdownload site, downloading EDconnect, or installing or using EDconnect, please contact CPS/WAN Technical Support at 800/330-5947 or via e-mail at CPSWAN@NCS.COM.
