RE: Errors –4, -1 and processed data availability

This is an update to the current SAIG mailboxing issues with Error 4s, timeouts, and delayed delivery of processed Title IV data including information on a weekend outage.

We apologize for the frustration and problems you have experienced. With those concerns in mind, we are providing you with our performance enhancement implementation schedule. As always, we remain committed to resolving these problems in as quickly a manner as possible.

February 9, 2002 – SFA will upgrade the SAIG mailboxing system. This will help eliminate the “-4”, “-1” and “421 Peer Connection Closed” errors and will enable the network to process your Title IV data within the normal processing turnaround time. In order to implement this upgrade, a system outage will be required this weekend. The outage will be this Saturday, 2/9, from 3:00am to midnight. We ask that you not transmit files via SAIG after midnight Friday. You will be able to receive files however up until the Saturday 3:00am outage begins.

February 16, 2002 – We will augment SAIG with additional enhancements to further improve overall performance. This will ensure the network is ready for peak usage. Additional details concerning a February 16 outage, should it be required, will be provided next week.

What can I do in the meantime?

For most of you, the easiest workaround is to transmit your files with the “Transmit Later” function available in EDconnect. The “Transmit Later” feature will allow you to transmit your files before 7:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. Central Time. This feature is available to those of you that have access to the Internet throughout the night.

Please follow these instructions to transmit your files with “Transmit Later”:

1.After you log in to EDconnect, click on Transmission/Later from the top menu.

2.Select the Date and Time you want EDconnect to download your files.

3.Leave your computer on. Your computer must be on in order to use the “Transmit Later” feature.

Again we wish to apologize for any inconvenience that you may have suffered from not being able to download your files. You have our assurances that we are working diligently to implement new enhancements to our network that will eliminate the errors that you are currently receiving.
