RE: 2002-2003 EDExpress Version 8.0 Issue Alert: Exporting Initial Applications

CPS/WAN Technical Support wishes to alert you to a recently discovered issue that affects the export of 2002-2003 Initial Application Data using EDExpress Version 8.0 if the "Export to EDconnect?" setup option is activated.

ISSUE: The Export to EDconnect setup option (located at Tools | Setup | Global | Security Users) automatically populates the transmission queue of the EDconnect software when files are exported in EDExpress. When exporting (or regenerating) 2002-2003 Initial Application Data (message class EAPS03IN) in Version 8.0, the auto export feature (if activated on the User ID you've logged in under) should place these files in the transmission queue under the description 02-03 INITIAL APPLICATIONS and under the message class EAPS03IN. The auto export feature, however, incorrectly places the batch in the EDconnect transmission queue under the description 02-03 CORRECTION/DUPLICATE and the message class CORR03IN. The CPS will reject any 2002-2003 Initial Application Data sent under the CORR03IN message class.

This issue ONLY affects how Initial Application Data batches are being placed in the transmission queue. There are no problems with the formatting of the export files, and this issue does not affect how other message classes are exported in Version 8.0.

This issue will be resolved in EDExpress Version 8.1, which is due for release at the end of March 2002. In the meantime, please use one of the following workarounds to resolve this issue:

1) Correct the description and message class in the EDconnect transmission queue. If you export (or regenerate) EAPS03IN files from your EDExpress software and you use the "Export to EDconnect" feature of the EDExpress software, it is very easy to correct the description and message class in your EDconnect transmission queue before transmitting the file:

A) Locate the file in the transmission queue;

B) Look at the file name located in the File Name column of the transmission queue. Verify you have located the EAPS03IN file you exported;

C) On the transmission queue line for this file, change the value in the Description field from 02-03 CORRECTION/DUPLICATE to 02-03 INITIAL APPLICATIONS;

D) Change the value in the Message Class field from CORR03IN to EAPS03IN.

2) Disable the Export to EDconnect feature in the EDExpress software. NOTE: Disabling this feature will require you to manually add all files exported from Version 8.0 to EDconnect's transmission queue:

A) Go to the Security User dialog via Tools | Setup | Global | Security Users;

B) Locate the User ID(s) of the individual(s) who export initial applications and de-select the "Export to EDconnect" option;

C) Click on the Save button at the bottom of the Security Users dialog;

D) The modified user(s) will need to exit and re-access the software for the change to take affect.
