RE: 2001-2002 FAFSA Express v7.2

The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce the availability of FAFSA Express Version 7.2. FAFSA Express is an electronic version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that can be transmitted electronically to the US Department of Education via a modem. If you are currently using FAFSA Express Version 7.1 you can and should upgrade to Version 7.2 as soon as possible.

Why should I upgrade?

The new version of FAFSA Express allows you to transmit your electronic FAFSA records over the Student Aid Internet Gateway portal. Very shortly the system used by the earlier version of 7.1 will no longer work as it was developed for use only with the Title IV Wide Area Network, so upgrading to 7.2 will be required of all users of 2001-2002 FAFSA Express.

How do I upgrade?

Upgrading is easy. Go to http://www.fsadownload.ed.gov/FAFSA/dwnload01-2.html and print the Installation Guide. This guide will walk you through the steps of downloading the installation files and installing Version 7.2 on your computer.

If you have any questions or need assistance please contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 800/433-3243, option 2.
