We are pleased to announce the posting of the January 2002 Draft of the 2002-2003 Federal Pell Grant Program Technical Reference for your review and comment. The document will be posted on the US Department of Education's Student Financial Assistance Download (fsadownload) Web site located at fsadownload.ed.gov and on the Department's IFAP Web site (ifap.ed.gov).

The Federal Pell Grant Technical Reference provides programmer specifications and record layouts for postsecondary institutions that need to design software systems to interface with ED’s software.

The Department invites you to review and comment on this draft. As you review the document, write your comments on a paper copy of the draft or prepare a memorandum noting the page and paragraph for each suggested change. This draft includes all sections and appendices but does not include an index as that is the final step in the publication process.

Once you have completed your review, send your comments to us by January 30, 2002. You can send your comments in any of three ways:

During January and February the Department of Education (ED) will review your suggestions to determine how to further update the 2002-2003 Federal Pell Grant Program Technical Reference in preparation of the final publication.

1) Go to http://fsadownload.ed.gov/index.htm.

2) Click on the "References and Documents" link.

3) Click on the "2002-2003 Federal Pell Grant Technical Reference" link; you can select Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat format.

4) Click on "Save as" (Acrobat) or "Save it to disk" (Word), designate a target directory for the document file, and click OK to save.
