The Schools Channel is pleased to announce the first joint Quality Assurance and Experimental Sites Conference. The Conference, Journey Toward Excellence: United by Common Goals, is scheduled for March 4-5, 2002, in Baltimore, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. This conference immediately precedes the larger SFA Spring Conference. It will provide attendees with opportunities to learn more about the recent changes to both programs, to network with financial aid colleagues and Department of Education staff, and to work together to develop creative and innovative approaches to Title IV aid delivery and service to students. This is the first time SFA will bring together the schools participating in these two programs. We believe it is important to have you and your staff participate in this collaborative event, as it will offer something for everyone from the novice to the program decision-maker.

The conference agenda is organized along five tracks: Best Practices, Data Analysis, Professional Development, Basic Navigating, and Partnerships for Excellence. Detailed descriptions for each track are available on the conference link at http://fsaconferences.ed.gov/. The website link also provides a preliminary agenda and detailed conference information regarding the conference location, the Interest Session Proposal form, and the Best Practices Display form. This site will be updated regularly with conference information.

This is an exciting time for both the QA and X-Sites Programs, and we look forward to your involvement and participation in this joint venture. Please share this information with your QA and X-Sites coordinator. As partners, we can make the journey together to improve aid administration and services to students. We hope that you will be able to join us in Baltimore in March. Together we can make this the best conference possible!

Sincerely,

Kay Jacks, General Manager
