An updated copy of the 2002-2003 Specifications for Need Analysis Servicers and a draft of the 2002-2003 Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) Format have been posted to the following Web site:

A number of changes have been made to the draft NAS specifications that were issued on 8/01/01. These changes are summarized below.

Model Determination
- Edits using the VA Match flag and Dependency Override have been added.
- As a result of the above change, some edits have been renumbered.

Complete Assumptions
- Use of the FAA Adjustment Flag has been added to assumptions for Parents' Number in College.
- Edits have been added for suppression of some assumptions on correction records.
- As a result of the above changes, most edits have been renumbered.

Simplified Needs Test
- An extra right parenthesis has been removed from the dependent edits.

Complete Reject Edits
- Use of the FAA Adjustment Flag has been added to edits for rejects W and 11.
- Edits for reject 8 and 18 have been added.
- Edits have been added for suppression of some rejects on correction records.
- As a result of the above changes, most edits have been renumbered.

Formula Calculations
- Offset for non-tax filers in Formula 1, Step 10d, has been corrected to 2,330.

Please note that the Department of Education will not have completed testing of these specifications until January 1, 2002. Servicers should be prepared to receive updates to the NAS Specifications until that time.
