RE: Issue Alert: Updates to 2001-2002 SAR/ISIR Comment Codes Due to Phone Number Changes and Mailing Address

Due to a recent location move, the U.S. Department of Education has changed two phone numbers and a mailing address listed in two 2001-2002 SAR/ISIR comments. These changes have been implemented in the Central Processing System (CPS) and affect all paper and electronic SAR/ISIR output.

1) Comment Code 008 will now read as follows: "We cannot process your application until you have given us additional information. Call us at 202-377-3294, or write to: U.S. Department of Education, SFA - Collections, 830 First Street, N.E., Room 41A1, Washington, DC 20202-5320. Please include with your letter your current address and telephone number (including the area code)."

2) Comment Code 009 will now read as follows: "We cannot process your application further because of issues raised by terms of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988. For information on how to proceed, you must contact us within 30 days from the date of this letter by telephone at 202-377-3243."

Please advise students who receive these SAR/ISIR Comment Codes to use these new phone numbers and mailing address when needing assistance with the circumstances described in each comment.

The CPS is using the new phone numbers and mailing address in these Comment Codes for all paper SARs and electronic ISIR files. The FAFSA on the Web site will soon be updated to reflect these changes as well.

NOTE: EDExpress will not be updated for these text changes. You will still be able to import and print ISIR records assigned Comment Codes 008 and 009, but please note these comments will not print the updated Department phone numbers and mailing address.
