RE: Tip: Avoiding LOC Change Reject Code A6

The Department would like to advise Direct Loan Schools processing Single-Year MPNs of how to avoid the Loan Origination Change Reject Code of A6.

The Loan Origination Center (LOC) returns the A6 Change Reject Code in the Loan Origination Change Acknowledgement when more than one loan has been linked to the MPN and the academic year has changed for any loan linked to the MPN.

If the academic year is changed on one or more of the loans linked to a single MPN, you must inactivate the loan(s) with the changed dates, send the changes to the LOC, and then originate a new loan with the correct dates. The student must sign a new MPN.

NOTE: If only one loan is linked to the MPN, the academic year can be changed on the loan and the school will not receive the A6 Change Reject Code.

If you have questions regarding EDExpress, please contact CPS/WAN Technical Support at 800/330-5947 or via e-mail at CPSWAN@NCS.COM. For questions regarding LOC, please contact the Direct Loan Origination Center at 800/848-0978 or via e-mail at loan_origination@mail.eds.com.
