SUBJECT: Federal Pell Grant Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS) Web Site Enhancements
THIS MESSAGE: Announces a new release (version 3.1) of the Pell Grants RFMS web site that will be implemented over the Labor Day Holiday weekend. This implementation requires that the web site be out of service beginning Friday morning, August 31, at 8:00 A.M. until Tuesday morning, September 4 at 8:00 A.M. A temporary "Under Construction " page will be displayed during the outage period.
The new release contains a number of enhancements that have been made to the web site in response to the requests of users of Pell Grants on the Web (www.pellgrantsonline.ed.gov). The most obvious of these enhancements includes a new "look and feel" of the web site. The main page presents three (3) levels of menu options that are accessible on every page. The first level includes the Home, Help, FAQ, Links, Glossary, Contact Us, and Logon options. The next level includes the Institutions, Servicers, Student, Batches, Administration, and Post Deadline options. When you move your mouse over this second level of options, a third level of sub-options is displayed.
The web site has both Secure and Not Secure functions. This is symbolized by a Lock icon next to the Secure functions. A function is secure if Privacy Act Data is displayed. Functions Not Secured may be viewed by anyone viewing the web site. Secured functions may only be accessed by authorized users that have logged onto the web site.
The web site now includes Quick Help, describing each page and its function. There are also enhancements to improve usability by people who are visually impaired.
Several pages have been renamed to better describe their function: "View FAA Information" is now "View Contact/FAA Info", "Update FAA Information" is now "Update Contact/FAA Info" and "Student/POP Information" is now "Student Information".
"Request Administrative Relief" has been added as a new function to the web site. This allows the submission of requests for Administrative Relief for award years in Post-Deadline status.
Other new pages that have been added include: Institution Information, Origination Detail, Disbursement Detail, Applicant Detail, Servicer Information, and Institution Branch Listing. These pages will allow you to view origination and disbursement records accepted (and accepted and corrected) by RFMS as well as data about Pell eligible applicants.
New links between pages have been included in this Release. For example, from the Batch Status Detail page, once you log on, you can now click on the Origination ID to look up information about a specific student, including their Origination, Applicant, or Disbursement information.
We encourage you to explore the Pell Grants On the Web site, use the new resources available, and tell us what you think. Please send your comments to: pell.systems@ed.gov or use the "Contact Us" feature within the web site. We appreciate any feedback on our enhancements to the web site that you can provide.
