Subject: Prisoner Match

During the past two weeks we began preliminary matching with the Social Security Administration to determine if any applicants have been reported to the SSA as being incarcerated. Out of more than 900,000 transactions processed, approximately 3,500 came back from the SSA with indicators showing that the applicant is incarcerated. A quality control check of some of these cases has suggested to us that some of these matches may be incorrect. Therefore, schools may ignore SSA/Prisoner match results until such time as we further review prisoner match status given to us by SSA and issue further guidance. Thank you for your patience.
