CPS/WAN Technical Support would like to inform you of an issue concerning saving a PLUS loan record in 2001-2002 EDExpress.

Issue: If a subsidized or an unsubsidized record exists, you may receive an edit message upon saving a PLUS loan record stating "Loan Amount Approved may not be greater than Loan Amount Requested." The record does not save.

This happens only if you create the PLUS loan, do not enter amounts in the Loan Amount Requested and Loan Amount Approved fields and then save the record or print the promissory note, which causes the software to attempt to save the record before printing.

EDExpress will enter the Loan Amount Approved from the subsidized or unsubsidized loan in the Loan Amount Approved field of the PLUS loan but not in the Loan Amount Requested field. You will not see this amount in the Loan Amount Approved field until you click OK on the edit message and on the "Record Not Saved" message.

Workaround: To resolve this issue, enter 0 in the Loan Amount Approved field to overwrite the subsidized or unsubsidized amount or enter PLUS loan amounts in the Loan Amount Requested and Loan Amount Approved fields and save the record again.
