RE: Cash Summary Report
DATE: July 9, 2001
CPS/WAN Technical Support would like to inform you of an issue regarding the Cash Summary report in Direct Loan Tools for Windows Version 1.0 for both 2000-2001 and 2001-2002.
Issue: The Total Cash (Receipts – Excess Cash) is not calculated correctly. For example, if the Cash Receipts total is $2000 and the Excess Cash Returned is $1000, Total Cash should be calculated to print $1000. Instead, it is calculated to print $3000.
Since the amount entered for Cash Receipts is normally positive and the amount entered for Excess Cash is normally negative, the software is subtracting the negative amount from the positive amount ($2000 – (- $1000)) which actually adds the two amounts ($3000). Direct Loan Tools should be adding ($2000 + (-1000)) to give Total Cash as $1000.
Workaround: After printing the report, manually calculate the Total Cash by subtracting the amount printed for Excess Cash from the amount printed for Cash Receipts since those amounts are calculated correctly. You should then enter your manually calculated Total Cash amount on your printed report. You will also need to then calculate and enter your Ending Cash Balance (Total Cash - Total Net Disbursements) on the printed report.
