RE: Final 2001-2002 Federal Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules Approved

NOTE: This message is an update to the recent network message posted alerting all schools to the potential delay of the approval and release of the 2001-2002 Federal Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules. The Department advised schools on December 15, 2000 of the potential delay of the approval of the 2001-2002 Federal Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules, and its impact on various ED systems and software.

President Clinton signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2001, on December 21, 2000. The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2001, provides an appropriation of $8.8 billion for the Federal Pell Grant Program for the 2001-2002 award year and raises the maximum Federal Pell Grant award to $3,750, up $450 from the previous award year. The minimum award continues to be $400. The maximum Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant increases to 3550.

The 2001-2002 Federal Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules were posted on the IFAP on December 26, 2000, as "Dear Partner" letter

P-00-03. The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2001, negates any delays in processing or software development advised in the earlier message we sent.

Please note the following:

1) The CPS will not need to reprocess any ISIR data in January 2001 to account for the new 2001-2002 Federal Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules, as the new maximum Pell EFC has been programmed into the system.

2) The initial release of 2001-2002 EDExpress for Windows, Version 7.0, will include the new 2001-2002 Federal Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules.

3) No other ED systems or software will be delayed or impacted by this late approval.

If you have questions regarding the EDExpress software, please contact CPS Customer Service at 800/330-5947 or via email at CPS@NCS.COM.
