A Message to all Default Reduction Assistance Program (DRAP) Users
Dear Partner:
The U.S. Department of Educations Campus-Based Operations staff have made improvements in the Default Reduction Assistance Program (DRAP). The improvements made focus primarily on reducing incidences of undelivered notices that we mail to students to the addresses that you identify. The vast majority of the undelivered notices that are returned to us are addressed to Post Office box numbers.
To better provide DRAP services to you, and to ensure that identified students receive notices that their Federal Perkins Loan is in default, we have determined that physical addresses for students must be provided to us. We will discontinue sending notices to students at Post Office box addresses.
By making this improvement, we will reduce unit costs for the DRAP effort. Cost savings will be realized by reducing the numbers and incidences of undelivered notices, thereby reducing mail and postage costs.
We want to continue our partnership with you to efficiently and effectively carry out this effort. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you have questions about this letter, please feel free to call me at 202-708-5774.
Sincerely,
Sherraine Green
