Subject: E-mail notification to Web Filers

We are excited to announce that the Central Processing System (CPS) will send e-mail acknowledgments to students who file a 2001-2002 application or correction via the Web and also supply an e-mail address.

These e-mails are expected to help students better understand where their web application or correction is in the process. CPS will attempt to deliver the e-mail to the student twice, in case some difficulty occurs that prevents delivery the first time.

The first e-mail tells the student that the CPS received his/her submitted application or correction. There are two versions of this e-mail: one for students who need to submit signatures and one for students who supply all the necessary signatures. The second e-mail tells the student that the CPS processed the application or correction.

Below is the complete text for the e-mails. The CPS specifies the type of web record the student files in the first sentence of each e-mail. CPS inserts one of the following three phrases where you see the "{variable text}" in the text below:

Free Application for Federal Student Aid,

Renewal Application for Federal Student Aid, or

Correction to your Application for Federal Student Aid

If you have any questions about this new process, please contact CPS Customer Service at 800/330-5947, option 2, or via email at cps@ncs.com.
