RE: Delay in Transmitting Statements of Account (SOA)

THIS MESSAGE informs you of the delay in RFMS transmitting SOAs.

On April 18, 2001 we became aware that RFMS was producing SOAs that contained inaccurate data and immediately suspended generating SOAs. Although the problem has been fixed, we have a backlog of SOAs starting from May 1. This backlog includes the SOAs notifying schools eligible for Initial Authorizations of the 2001-2002 initial amounts as well as any SOAs that reflect current or prior award year changes. We anticipate eliminating the current backlog of SOAs by the end of May.

In the interim, for years other than 2001-2002 you will find up-to-date correct data on the Disbursement Summary page on the RFMS web site (

www.pellgrantsonline.ed.gov). However, because the Accounting Balances webpage displays RFMS SOA data, the data on that page will not be up-to-date until we resolve the SOA problem. Once a 2001-2002 SOA has been generated you will be able to view that information on the Accounting Balances webpage as well.

If you have questions concerning the obligation amount of Federal Pell Grant funds in your GAPS account, we suggest you contact GAPS at 1-888-336-8930 or

http://gapsweb.ed.gov. Please note that you will not see a 2001-2002 obligation in GAPS until July 1, 2001.

If you have any questions you may contact the Pell Grant Hotline. The e-mail address is pell.systems@ed.gov and the telephone number is 1-800-474-7268. Thank you for your understanding and patience concerning these matters.
