SUBJECT: Correction to School Portal/IFAP Customization Tip of the Week Announcement

This announcement is to correct some erroneous information previously reported in an electronic announcement dated April 11, 2001 titled, "Portal Tip of the Week - Customizing Your FSA4Schools Portal Website."

The announcement states:

"We recommend that you add this new customized website to your list of favorites or even better to make this your new homepage. If you do not add this to your favorites, when you type in the http://fsa4schools.ed.gov/SCHOOLSWebApp/index.js web address, it will go back to the original homepage without your changes."

However, because we don't utilize "cookies" on our websites, neither your browser nor the Portal software is able to return you to your personalized page. So, you are not able to list your customized page as a bookmark/favorite.

You may still make the http://fsa4schools.ed.gov/SCHOOLSWebApp/index.js website as your homepage. You will just need to logon to the My SFA area each day. Your customized page will appear once you logon. The customized page will appear as long as you do not log off or leave the website. You will notice that if you click on one of the links on your customized page, even your personal links, your browser will open a new window. The "old" Portal window will not close. You must click on the Portal browser window to return to your customized page. Do not use the back button for this purpose. When/if you close the browser window which displays your customized page, then you will need to logon to the My SFA area again.

(Note: Keep in mind that your user name and password are case sensitive when logging onto My SFA. Your user name is typically your first initial and your last name with the first two letters being capitalized. Example: JSmith or JDoe)

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions, you may contact the SFA Customer Service Call Center at 1-800-433-7327 between 9:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Or, you may send a question or feedback via email by clicking on the Got a Question? and Portal Feedback links located at the top of the http://fsa4schools.ed.gov/SCHOOLSWebApp/index.jsp website, respectively.
