SUBJECT: School’s Portal/IFAP Tip of the Week – Accessing Unavailable Files

The idea for this week’s tip comes from the help of our partners that have contacted the SFA Customer Service Call Center. We have been notified of several files whereby our partners are having problems accessing on our IFAP website.

Occasionally, you may run across a file on IFAP that you will either receive an error message or the file will appear to be blank. Although this is a problem with the file names and the web address, we have found that by using certain web browsers (such as Netscape 4.7 and Internet Explore 5.5) you are more likely to encounter the errors. We are currently working to correct the situation.

When attempting to access a file, if you encounter the symptoms described above, determine if there are any blank spaces in the web address. If you do see spaces, place a %20 in its place. This should resolve the problem. Another alternative is to try accessing the file with a different web browser than the ones listed above.

This is a temporary fix that we are providing to you so you can access the information you need. We hope that you will still take the time to make us aware of any publications that you have problems accessing. It is with your help that we can maintain a quality product and resolve these problems.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. We are working to correct the situation as soon as possible. You may contact SFA Customer Service Call Center at 1-800-433-7327 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. eastern standard time. You can also send your inquiry or feedback by emailing us directly at sfa.customer.support@ed.gov or by clicking on the Got a Question? or Portal Feedback links located at the top of the FSA4Schools website.
