RE: 2001-2002 EDExpress Version 7.1 Installing Pell Module Incorrectly

DATE: March 8, 2001

CPS Customer Service recently determined that 2001-2002 EDExpress Version 7.1 will incorrectly install the 2001-2002 Pell module if it is selected during a Custom installation. Version 7.1, which was posted on March 2, 2001 to the Department’s SFAdownload Web site (http://fsadownload.ed.gov/index.htm), was released with the intention of only adding 2001-2002 Direct Loan functionality and fixes to several software and online help issues in Version 7.0.

When performing a Custom installation of Version 7.1, please do NOT mark the checkbox displayed for the Pell module. Selecting the Pell checkbox and completing the installation will not generate any software errors or impact the use of other EDExpress features in Version 7.1, but the module itself is still in the development and testing phase, and is not yet ready for school use.

We recommend you modify your Security Group setup under Tools | Setup | Global to prevent users from accessing the Pell software area if you install Version 7.1.

Schools should not establish their Pell setup or enter Pell Origination records into EDExpress until the Version 7.2 upgrade, scheduled for release in late April 2001, has been successfully installed. The Version 7.2 installation process will overwrite any Pell functionality loaded with Version 7.1.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this issue may have caused you. If you have any questions, please contact CPS Customer Service at 800/330-5947, or via e-mail at CPS@NCS.COM.
