RE: Revised 2000-2001 Formula A: Dependent Student EFC Worksheets

We have revised two of our 2000-2001 EFC Formula Worksheets to make them easier for financial aid administrators to use when calculating Expected Family Contributions (EFCs) for enrollment periods that are greater than or less than 9 months.

The revised worksheets are:

2000-2001 EFC Formula A: Regular Worksheet A for Dependent Students
2000-2001 EFC Formula A: Simplified Worksheet A for Dependent Students

The worksheets we posted to IFAP earlier this year are correct; however, several financial aid administrators, including NASFAA on behalf of its members, pointed out to us that the two dependent formula worksheets were difficult to use when calculating EFCs for dependent students enrolled for periods other than 9 months.

To simplify the worksheets we have made the following changes:

1. Alpha-numeric line references have been added to page 3 of the current worksheets for calculating EFCs for periods of enrollment other than 9 months.
2. A fourth page has been added to the worksheets that can be used to add both the parent and student contributions for periods of enrollment other than 9 months to come up with a total EFC figure. Page four provides specific line references for calculating the total EFC.

PDF versions of these revised worksheets are included as attachments to this announcement.

We hope you find these improvements to the dependent EFC Formula Worksheets helpful.
