This Message - Announces the Availability of the EDE Federal Pell Grant Technical Reference for the 1999-2000 processing year. The EDE Federal Pell Grant Technical Reference for the 2000-2001 processing year will be available in early May 2000.

The 1999-2000 EDE Pell Grant Technical Reference can be found at

This technical reference is provided to postsecondary institutions
participating in the U. S. Department of Education Pell Grant Program.
It contains technical system information that allows you to:
- Build your own system;
- Use a system provided by another organization (for example, a vendor
or third-party servicer);
- Use EDExpress (the software package provided by the U.S. Department
of Education) in combination with your own system or vendor provided software.

This document is divided into four sections:
- An overview containing important phone numbers to call for assistance,
as well as information to help you choose how you want to participate
electronically in the program;
- An introduction;
- A section on custom systems that provides you with essential record layouts
pertinent to building your own system; and
- A section on combination systems which provides you with essential records
layouts pertinent to using a combination of systems.
