PublicationDate: 7/26/2000 Summary: Development of FISAP Version 3.1 to Resolve Installation Error Author: General Manager: SFA Student Channel Posted on July 26, 2000 TO: All Destination Points FROM: U.S. Department of Education RE: Development of FISAP Version 3.1 to Resolve Installation Error Recently, a number of schools have reported encountering a "componentmovedata" error message when attempting to install Version 3.0 of the Department's FISAP software. Version 3.0 includes the Fiscal Operations Report for program participation during the award year July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000 and the Application to Participate for the award year July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002. We wish to provide you with more information on this install message and what we are doing to resolve it. We have researched the FISAP Version 3.0 "componentmovedata" error and found the source to be a DLL file that was not marked as a "shared" file. We have also found that this installation error occurs more often (though not consistently) on PCs that have not had another ED software product installed on them, such as EDExpress Version 6.2. The error occurs in all currently supported Windows versions (Windows 95, NT, and 98). In order to resolve this installation message for schools that are receiving it and cannot install the new FISAP software, we are currently developing FISAP Version 3.1. Version 3.1 will not differ from Version 3.0 in terms of its central FISAP functionality; no features, options, or functionality will change in Version 3.1, except for the resolution of the installation error. If you have already successfully installed Version 3.0, you will not need to install Version 3.1. We have developed a workaround for the Version 3.0 installation error. If you do not wish to wait for the release of Version 3.1 on the SFAdownload site, which should occur in the next week, please contact CPS Customer Service at 800/330-5947, option 8, or via email at CPS@NCS.COM. We will send a follow-up network message to all destination points when FISAP Version 3.1 is available to schools on the SFAdownload site. We regret any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. |
