PublicationDate: 4/24/2000 Summary: Upgrading to 1999-2000 EDExpress Version 5.4.2 Author: CPS - Central Processing System (CPS) Posted on April 24, 2000 TO: All Destination Points FROM: CPS Customer Service RE: Upgrading to 1999-2000 EDExpress Version 5.4.2 CPS Customer Service wishes to remind all 1999-2000 EDExpress users that the Version 5.4.2 service release recently made available on the SFAdownload Web site is an upgrade to the previous service release, Version 5.4.1. As a rule, you should ensure you have the most recent EDExpress version loaded on your system before upgrading to any new release. In this case, you must upgrade from Version 5.4 to Version 5.4.1 before installing Version 5.4.2 on your system. Both Version 5.4.1 and Version 5.4.2 are available for download from the SFAdownload Web site at http://www.sfadownload.ed.gov. The installation files for these service releases (EDExpressv541.exe for Version 5.4.1, or EDExpressv542.exe for Version 5.4.2) should be run on ALL PC workstations that access your 1999-2000 EDExpress database. Be sure to reboot each PC following the installation of either version. If you installed Version 5.4.2 without installing Version 5.4.1, please do the following: 1) Download and install Version 5.4.1 on all 1999-2000 PC workstations, rebooting each when the installation completes; 2) Install Version 5.4.2 again on all those same 1999-2000 PC workstations, rebooting each again as the installation completes. The Version 5.4.1 and Version 5.4.2 service releases will not modify your 1999-2000 EDExpress database (Expres90.mdb) in any way. Both versions will only load .DLL files to the workstation hard drives. Please note the 1999-2000 EDExpress menu option Help / About EDExpress for Windows will not change to read 5.4.1 or 5.4.2 when you have installed these service releases --- the screen will continue to display Version 5.4 as your current version number. To verify you have successfully upgraded to Version 5.4.2, check the 1999-2000 EDExpress program directory on your hard drive (default is C:Filesfor Windows) for the following files and dates: 1) DImportExport.DLL, 1/13/00 2) DLreport0.DLL, 1/13/00 3) Expbase0.DLL, 1/13/00 4) DirectLoan0.DLL, 4/5/00 5) PellImportExportDll0.DLL, 4/5/00 6) PellReport0.DLL, 4/5/00 If you have all three files dated 1/13/00 and all three files dated 4/5/00, you have successfully installed Version 5.4.1 and Version 5.4.2 on the workstation. If you need any assistance connecting to the SFAdownload site or downloading Version 5.4.1 or Version 5.4.2, please contact Title IV WAN Customer Service at 800/615-1189, or via email at T4WAN@NCS.COM.
