PublicationDate: 2/22/2000 Summary: Delay in Federal Pell Grant Authorization Increases Author: General Manager: SFA School Channel Posted on February 22, 2000 TO: All Destination Points FROM: Pell Grant Processing RE: Delay in Federal Pell Grant Authorization Increases On February 10 and 11, 2000 Pell Grant Processing implemented a critical programming change to the RFMS accounting subsystem. RFMS continued to process origination and disbursement data during this time period. However, while we made the programming change, we had to suspend transactions that pass from RFMS to the accounting subsystem and the resultant accounting transactions that we send to GAPS. This temporary suspension of accounting activity resulted in a delay in authorization increases only to those institutions for whom RFMS processed disbursement data that exceeded their current authorizations. Because it did not process any authorization increases, RFMS did not create any Statements of Account either. An unanticipated glitch on Monday delayed our resuming normal RFMS accounting activity until Tuesday (February 15). We regret any inconvenience that your institution may have experienced. We believe that our implementing this programming change at this time was essential to RFMS processing authorization adjustments.
