PublicationDate: 1/27/2000 Summary: 1999-2000 Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Version 4.0 Now Available Author: PSS - Program Systems Service Posted on January 27, 2000 TO: All Quality Assurance Program Participants FROM: U.S. Department of Education RE: 1999-2000 Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Version 4.0 Now Available DATE: January 25, 2000 The Department is pleased to announce the release of the 1999-2000 Quality Assurance Program software, Version 4.0. This software can be used by participating schools for intensive readings and analysis of financial aid data for use in quality improvement planning. Beginning with Version 4.0, the QA Program software will no longer be mass distributed in diskette format. Instead, Version 4.0 must be downloaded from the Department's SFAdownload Web site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov/index.htm. The 1999-2000 QA Program Installation Guide and the Version 4.0 Cover Letter, which contain important information you should review as a software user, must also be downloaded from the SFAdownload Web site. Version 4.0 is the first 32-bit edition of the QA Program software. The software will only run in Windows 95, Windows NT, or Windows 98 environments. For further system requirements, please consult the Installation Guide. Version 4.0 is available on the SFAdownload Web site in two formats. You can download the entire software in one file, called QAP40.exe, or you can download the software in six separate installments, which can then be copied to a network drive or diskettes. Please review the download and installation instructions contained in the Installation Guide for more detail. This software can be installed in a standalone or network environment. In a standalone installation, all programs files, including the software database, are installed and stored on the hard drive of a single PC. For network installations you must first run a network server install, designating a network drive location for your QAP database. Once the server install is complete, you must run network workstation installations on all PCs which will access the networked database, designating the correct network drive and directory during each installation. Note: All QA Program participants will receive a 1999-2000 QA Program Desk Reference in the mail. If you need any assistance connecting to the SFAdownload site, downloading QAP Version 4.0 in single or multiple file format, or have not received your QA Program Desk Reference, please contact Title IV WAN Customer Service at 800/615-1189, or via email at T4WAN@NCS.COM.
