Department of Education DATE: January 7, 2000 RE: Direct Loan Conference Deadline Reminder Mark your calendar and plan to attend the third annual Direct Loan Conference at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D. C. The conference will begin at 8:30am on Wednesday, March 1, and end at 4:30pm on Friday, March 3, 2000. The conference is free, but register by January 29, 2000, in order to take advantage of the special conference room rate. The Direct Loan conference will offer a wide variety of sessions covering topics such as the master promissory note multi-year functionality, cohort default rates, reconciliation and cash management, and student aid internet gateway. Other sessions will include Direct Loan origination, DL Servicing, EDExpress, reauthorization and technical amendments, technical spec changes, RFMS, return of Title IV funds, and more. Many conference sessions are new; others cover important and popular topics previously presented at the Electronic Access Conferences.
