This informs you of two forthcoming termination actions that may affect your institution if you have not reconciled your prior year Pell Grant accounts.

First, in late December 1999, we will terminate system processing of any Pell Grant data pertaining to 1994-95, 1995-96, and 1996-97. The Pell Grant Recipient and Financial Management System (PGRFMS) is not year 2000 compliant for these years. We will process all outstanding audits manually and enter any resultant institutional authorization adjustments directly into GAPS. We will continue to process 1997-98 and 1998-99 Pell data.

Second, on December 28, 1999, we will shut down the Pell Grant Institutional Access System (IAS) - our interactive telephone voice response system. The IAS's obsolete software and aging hardware have made our keeping it operational increasingly more difficult during the past year. You may continue to request electronic SPS/YTD/Batch Replacement data through TIV WAN for the 1998-99 year. You may also ask for authorization/batch status information and make data requests for 1997-98 and 1998-99 by calling the Pell Grant Customer Service at 1-800-4PGRANT (1-800-474-7268).

To replace the IAS for 1999-2000 and future years, we have established the Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS) Pell Grants Online web page. Presently, you can use this web site to request 1999-2000 Pell Grant data. You may also submit 1999-2000 Pell data requests through TIV WAN if you use EDExpress or other software having the capability to submit data requests electronically.

Thank you for your continued support of student financial assistance.
