RE: Tip of the Week: Viewing Rejected Pell Disbursements

This week's tip highlights a feature in 1999-2000 EDExpress: Viewing
Rejected Pell Disbursements

When individual student Pell Disbursement records are rejected by the Pell
processor, schools receive reject information back in a PGDA00OP or PGSD00OP
message class (for Regular or Special Disbursements, respectively).

Importing disbursement acknowledgement files into 1999-2000 EDExpress will
update the disbursement reject comment codes, which can be accessed via
View/Processed Edits/Comments on the Pell Grant tab. Individual rejected
disbursements are also updated to an RFMS Status and Disbursement Status of
"E" (Error - Rejected).

Please note as well when a Pell Disbursement record is rejected, the Pell
processor sends back a Disbursement Year-to-Date (YTD) value of zero, which
will be displayed on the Pell Disbursement screen. This does NOT indicate
that all previously accepted Pell Disbursement amounts have been voided on
the processor's system. To determine the current YTD total of accepted Pell
Disbursements for a particular student, you should view the YTD amount of
the LAST accepted Pell Disbursement for that student.

We recommend you resubmit rejected Pell Disbursement records before
submitting new Pell Disbursement records. To resubmit a rejected Pell
Disbursement record, update the rejected record to the appropriate amounts
and data on the Pell Disbursement screen. If the corrected Pell Disbursement
passes all software edits, the Pell Disbursement status will change from an
"E" (Error) to an "R" (ready to export) Disbursement Status, and you can
then export the record appropriately for reprocessing.
