RFMS processing errors occurred, on Tuesday August 31 and Wednesday September 1, 1999.

An error occurred in the processing of a number of Disbursement batches on Tuesday August 31, 1999, resulting in the rejection of those batches. Upon receipt of transmissions containing both Origination and Disbursement batches, RFMS attempted to process the Disbursement batches before processing the Origination batches. These Disbursement batches were rejected, because there was no Origination Batch on file. The Origination batches processed successfully during the following processing cycle on Wednesday, September 1, 1999.

In order to process the Disbursement batches that were rejected on August 31, 1999, we ask that Institutions resend the Disbursement Records sent on that day in new batches with new batch numbers. Please DO NOT send the same batch with same batch number because the batch will reject as a duplicate.

A second error occurred when a number of Origination and Disbursement batches were reprocessed resulting in rejected batches being returned to some destination points. If RFMS resent a rejected batch, you may not be able to import it (in EDExpress) due to a batch integrity error. However, because it is a duplicate batch, it is not necessary to import it.

We regret any inconvenience this matter may have caused you and we apologize for the delay in getting this information to you. Please be assured that RFMS is taking steps to prevent a recurrence of this error.
