FAFSA Express and Updated EDConnect Software

The 1997-98 FAFSA Express (Version 3.0) will be available for downloading from the ED
Web page by December 16. The diskette version can be ordered by calling
1-800-801-0576 beginning December 1, and shipping will begin approximately 1 week
after the ED Web page version is accessible for downloading.

The first version of the 1997-98 EDExpress for Windows software (Version 3.0) will be
signed off by the Department of Education by November 8, and shipping will begin
approximately two weeks after sign-off. Version 3.0 will contain the ability to import and
print renewal application data only. EDConnect DOS Version 1.4 will be distributed at
the same time and will contain the new 1997-98 message classes.

Version 3.1 of the 1997-98 EDExpress for Windows software will contain the
functionality to perform renewal application entry, student entry, FAA entry, correction
entry, ISIR receipt and all processes needed for application processing. This version
should be signed off by the Department of Education by December 20, and shipping will
begin approximately 2 weeks after sign-off. Also shipped with this version will be the
EDExpress Application Desk Reference and Version 1.5 of the EDConnect DOS software.
EDConnect DOS Version 1.5 will contain several enhancements including the ability to
receive updates to the message class database via the Title IV WAN.

Version 3.2 of the 1997-98 EDExpress for Windows software will contain the
functionality to perform all Packaging, Direct Loan, and SSCR functions. This version
should be signed off by the Department of Education by February 21, 1997, and shipping
will begin approximately 2 weeks after sign-off. Also shipped with this version will be
the EDExpress Packaging and Direct Loan Desk References.

Final 1997-98 Technical References:

The Renewal Application section will be mailed with Version 3.0 of the EDExpress
software.

The Application Express section will be mailed by November 18.

The Packaging and Direct Loan sections will be mailed by January 28.
