| PublicationDate: 12/9/97 Summary: Upcoming Distribution of 1998-99 Software and Materials Author: TIV/WAN - Title IV Wan Customer Service Posted December 9, 1997 To: All Destination Points From: U.S. Department of Education RE: Upcoming Distribution of 1998-99 Software and Materials The first version of the 1998-99 EDExpress software (Version 4.0) will be distributed December 11 through December 24, 1997. Version 4.0 contains all functions needed for Application Processing except for ENAS, which will be "grayed out". (In Windows, functions that are planned for the future, but not currently available, appear in drop-down menus in gray rather than black.) The software also contains the full Packaging module for the 1998-99 cycle. The recently enacted FY 1998 appropriations bill provides for a $3,000 maximum award and maximum Income Protection Allowances (IPA) of $2,200 for dependents, and $4250/$7250/$4250 for independents without children. However, the Department must determine that the appropriation is sufficient to fund these maximums. We expect the final determination by the end of the year. The ENAS function updated with the final IPAs is expected to be distributed in early January. In addition to EDExpress, this distribution includes the EDExpress Install Guide, Application Processing Desk Reference, Packaging Desk Reference, EDConnect Version 2.2 for Windows, CPS On-line Query User's Guide and the Title IV WAN User's Guide update.
