PublicationDate: 2/23/98 Summary: Tip of the Week - Quick Correction Author: CPS - Central Processing System (CPS) Posted February 23, 1998 To: All EDExpress Users From: CPS Customer Service RE: Tip of the Week - Quick Correction This week's Tip highlighting a specific feature or process in the EDExpress software: Using Quick Correction Feature/Process: Under "Process" on the main menu bar is an option called "Quick Correction." This option allows you to make corrections on a student's ISIR without having to open the student's record. Once in Quick Correction mode, type the student's SSN, name identifier and transaction you wish to correct. After clicking on "Continue," make the necessary field updates, then click on save. This will reset the screen, allowing you to correct another student record without having to exit the Quick Correction option. When you have finished making corrections, click on Close, which will save the corrections you have made. You can then export these corrections just as you would export corrections made on the SAR/ISIR tab. If you have made corrections in both Quick Corrections and the SAR/ISIR areas, EDExpress exports these in one file, CORRXXIN.***, where XX is the process year and *** is the sequential file extension assigned by the software. Why you should use it: Using Quick Correction will save you time if you know the correct values for specific fields on a student's ISIR, as you won't have to open and close each student record. You can also use Quick Correction to add your institution (with PIN/DRN) to records not in your database. For destination points with more than one institution code, Quick Correction allows you to change the originating institution for each student if necessary. Note: Quick Correction does not look at the ISIR upon saving, and therefore does not run edits on the data to ensure all necessary data was appropriately corrected (as the software does when saving corrections on the SAR/ISIR tab). If you have any questions, please contact CPS Customer Service at 1-800-330-5947, option 8, then option 1, or via e-mail at CPS@NCS.COM. |
