RE: Tip of the Week --- Printing FISAP forms

This week's tip highlights a feature or process in the FISAP for Windows software --- Printing FISAP forms.

The FISAP for Windows software requires an HP Laserjet-compatible printer for printing the signature page and other forms which need to be mailed to the Electronic FISAP Administrator at the time of your FISAP data transmission.

The cover letter sent with the software details how printers need to be renamed for the FISAP software to print these forms correctly. If you continue to experience printing problems after reading the cover letter, we recommend printing the FISAP reports to a file, then opening and editing the file in a word processing program such as Microsoft Word. This method will allow you to resolve any font size or page break issues.

To use this workaround, when you have completed your FISAP entry, select "File" as the destination for the FISAP report(s) you are printing (instead of "Screen" or "Printer"), and designate a directory and file name for your print job (such as FISAP.DOC). After exiting the FISAP software, you can then open the exported print file via File/Open in your word processing program.

First adjust your margins by selecting all of the text and then going to the margin settings. The left, right, top and bottom margins should be adjusted to the minimum settings (0.25 in most cases).

Once the margins have been modified, modify your font type to Courier (bold or normal) or Courier New and set the font size to 6 pt (this may not be a listed font type size, but most word processing programs should allow you to type it in manually). Also, if there is a Style option available, set it to "plain text."

Finally, if more than one form is being printed, insert page breaks in between the respective forms.

Once the margins, font type, font size, and page breaks have been adjusted, the FISAP forms can be printed for signing and mailing.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT NO TEXT IS ALTERED ON ANY OF THE CERTIFICATIONS. CERTIFICATIONS RECEIVED BY ED WITH ALTERED TEXT WILL BE CONSIDERED INVALID.
