RE: Tip of the Week: Preparing Your FISAP Data

This week's tip featuring a process or function in EDE software: Preparing Your FISAP Data.

The 1999-2000 FISAP for Windows software has been shipped to all destination points that have enrolled in FISAP services, and should be used to complete the FISAP form due by October 1, 1998. Users must enter all relevant data in the software, export the completed FISAP report, and transmit it to the FISAP processor via the Title IV WAN network.

Enrolled users who filed the FISAP electronically in 1997-1998 (via diskette using the DOS 12.0 FISAP software) were sent between July 14-17 a Prior Year Data file (message class FISAP00OP) via the Title IV WAN for any institutions that you service. The Prior Year Data files must be drawn down using the EDConnect software and imported into the FISAP for Windows software. These files populate the FISAP database with the school name and funding levels that you reported on last year's FISAP. All other prior year data will be stored for editing purposes. The FISAP software will allow you to process FISAP reports for multiple institutions in the same database.

Institutions filing the FISAP report for the first time must open and complete a blank FISAP form in the software (via File/New). We recommend new filers print out the FISAP instructions provided in the software's help text for detailed steps on creating and completing the FISAP form. You can also refer to the instructions provided in the software's cover letter.

When you have completed the FISAP report in the software, and have printed all relevant signature pages and certification forms, you must transmit your FISAP data back to the FISAP processor via the Title IV WAN. In addition, you must send the signature page, certification forms, and any additional documentation to support your waiver request for under use of funds, if applicable, to the Electronic FISAP Administrator c/o UAL.

If you have not received the FISAP for Windows software, please contact Title IV WAN Customer Service at 1-800-615-1189.

For technical assistance with the FISAP for Windows software, please refer to the FISAP Installation Guide and cover letter, sent with the software, or contact CPS Customer Service at 1-800-330-5947, option 2, or via e-mail at CPS@NCS.COM.
