PublicationDate: 5/1/98 Summary: Tip of the Week: First College Choice on Applications Author: CPS - Central Processing System (CPS) Posted May 1, 1998 TO: All EDExpress Users FROM: CPS Customer Service RE: Tip of the Week: First College Choice on Applications This week's tip highlights a specific feature or process in the EDExpress software: First College Choice on Applications Situation: When sending an electronic initial or renewal application, the first college choice (question #90) must be an institution eligible to participate in electronic initial/renewal application processing under the destination point (ie, TG ID) that is sending in the application. If the first institution code is not associated with the destination point submitting the application, CPS will not process the application. Resolution: For initial applications, the EDExpress software autofills the first college choice with the institution code as defined under Tools/Setup/App Express/System. The default college code can also be modified on the FAFSA tab. For renewal applications the first college choice will be the first one listed on the 1997-98 ISIR transaction used to create the 1998-99 renewal application. If your destination point only has one institution code associated with it, you will always need to list that institution code as the first choice followed by any other institutions you wish to include on the electronic initial or renewal application. If your destination point has more than one institution code associated with it, you need to ensure the first college code is one participating in electronic initial/renewal applications under the destination point transmitting the application.
