PublicationDate: 5/24/99 Summary: Tip of the Week: Creating Pell Queries Author: CPS - Central Processing System (CPS) Posted on May 24, 1999 TO: All Destination Points FROM: CPS Customer Service RE: Tip of the Week: Creating Pell Queries This week's tip highlights a functionality in the Pell module of the 1999-2000 EDExpress: Creating Pell Queries. Pell Query functionality has been added to the 1999-2000 EDExpress with Version 5.2. As you begin using the Pell module to complete processes such as ISIR import and origination record entry, you may need to define queries to produce reports on specific Pell students. As with the other EDExpress modules, Pell Query offers several pre-defined queries that will be automatically available when you install Version 5.2, including parameter queries that prompt you for value ranges at the time you execute the query. You can also define additional queries via Tools/Query/Pell. You can then select these queries for use when clicking on the Selection Criteria button for functions like ISIR import or Pell Reports/Origination List. Some Pell queries you create or use will not work successfully unless you zero-fill the value field. For example, if you wish to use the pre-defined parameter EFC range query to import ISIR data only for students with an EFC between 1000 and 2000, you would need to enter 01000 and 02000 as the EFC start and end range, respectively, when you execute the query. Other Pell field values you will need to pad with leading zeroes when defining or running queries are COA (Cost of Attendance), Secondary EFC, Award Amount for Entire School Year, Weeks Used to Calculate Payment, Weeks in Academic Program Year, Credit/Clock Hours Expected to Complete School Year, and Credit/Clock Hours in Program's Academic Year. If you do not zero-fill values for these fields, the queries will not work successfully and you will not get the results you seek.
