RE: Problem Identified in the 2000-2001 FISAP Software - Part VI,
Section A, Fields 16, 17, and 18

We wish to advise you of an issue recently identified in Version 2.0 of
the 2000-2001 FISAP software affecting Part VI, Section A, Fields 16, 17,
and 18, Columns A - G. Version 2.0 does not allow you to save a FISAP
record if the SUM of the values on Part VI, Section A, fields 17 AND 18
for any column (A through G) exceeds the calculated total on Field 16 of
the column. The software should be displaying the error message and
disallowing a record to be saved when the values on EITHER fields 17 OR
18 exceeds the total amount on field 16.

As a work-around for this problem, the Department will allow Campus-Based
schools receiving the error message incorrectly to enter zeros for the
Total "Automatic" Zero EFC Students, Field 18, Columns A through G.
Servicers and/or institutions using the FISAP technical reference layout
for importing external FISAP data should also enter zeroes in these fields
in the external import file.

In addition to this issue, the paper copy of the 2000-2001 FISAP Technical
Reference issued with the FISAP software also has an error. Part IV,
Section C, Field 8 (Total funds to FSEOG Recipients) is NOT a calculated
field. You should not use filler in the external import file, as stated
on page 32 of the record layouts. Please update your paper copy of the
FISAP Technical Reference to reflect the valid content for this field as
000000000-999999999. The electronic copy of the FISAP Technical Reference
posted to www.ifap.ed.gov includes the correct valid field content for
Field 8.
