Responding to requests from schools to make the SSCR message class names more meaningful and easily recognizable, the Department implemented new message class names beginning with the June rosters. The new names are: SSCR98OP NSLDS SSCR File SSCE98OP NSLDS SSCR Error/Acknldgmnt SSCR98IN NSLDS Automatic SSCR SSCM98IN NSLDS Manual SSCR On May 7, 1997 Title IV WAN sent out the automatic message class update file; MESSAGTB to all users. The above mentioned message classes will be added to your message class database once the MESSAGTB file is automatically requested, downloaded, and imported. Most of these actions will occur without you even noticing. One action you may notice is the importing of the new message class database into the software. An importing dialog box will display showing the progress of the import as it moves towards 100%. It is very important that you do not click on the cancel button during this import procedure. If cancel is clicked the new message class database will not be imported and the old one will continue to be used. Speed of the import procedure will vary depending on your computer's processor sped and available free resources. If you run multiple stand-alone PCS only the PC that downloads the MESSAGTB will have its message class database updated. Other stand-alone PCS will need to have the MESSAGTB file manually imported. You can copy the received MESSAGTB.*** file onto a diskette and manually import into the EDconnect software (DOS or Windows) located on the other stand-alone PCS. If you have questions on manually importing this file please call Title IV WAN Customer Service at 800-615-1189. The old SSCR message classes (DICR97OP, DECR97IN, etc.) will continue to appear in the message class management database, and eventually be phased out as the new message classes are used beginning June and beyond.
