NSLDS SSCR Status Update

PublicationDate: 3/27/97
Summary: NSLDS SSCR Status Update
Author: OPE - Office of the Assistant Secretary for OPE

TO: Schools Participating in Title IV Aid Programs

FROM: U.S. Department of Education

SUBJECT: NSLDS SSCR Status Update

NSLDS is processing the returned March SSCRs on a daily basis.
Error reports are generated on a daily basis and schools should return
them within 10 days of receipt. The quality of the data being returned by
schools is excellent; most schools are accurately completing 100% of the
rosters.

Schools are reminded that they may use the NSLDS online screens to
complete either the roster or the error report. This is particularly
effective if the number of records is relatively small.

March rosters should all be returned by March 31. If your school cannot
meet the deadline, you should continue to work on the roster and return
it as soon as it is completed. ED will not extend the deadline. NSLDS
Customer Service has received calls inquiring about penalties for not
returning the SSCRs or for returning them late. Possible penalties are
being reviewed by ED and will be outlined in an upcoming Dear Colleague
Letter.

Letters for schools that successfully completed the NSLDS SSCR practice
roster are in the mail (addressed to the attention of the financial aid
director). Schools that receive this letter are exempt from processing
guaranty agency SSCRs. Schools that did not return a practice roster but
submit their March roster with 90% accuracy will receive a letter in late
April exempting them from guaranty agency SSCRs.

April rosters will be generated shortly and should be returned by the end
of April.
