The 50th Anniversary NATO Summit will be held in Washington, DC, on April 23-25, 1999. Numerous heads of State and other dignitaries will be attending. Please note that this closure does not affect all Department of Education offices as some are located outside the designated closed area. Also, although OSFA headquarters offices will be closed, our regional offices and our contractors that operate outside the Washington, D. C. area will be operating and open for business. The following information is provided to clarify which offices and services are affected by this closure: Services Closed on Friday, April 23: * On Friday, April 23, 1999, the Federal Pell Grant Program must suspend normal processing activities as processing is performed on site within our government installation located in the closed Washington, DC area. We will resume normal processing on Monday, April 26. Institutions may send their Pell data to TIV WAN on Friday; however, we will not be able to process it until Monday, April 26. In keeping with our regular processing procedures, we will process all Pell data ready for pick up from TIV WAN by 5 p.m. (Eastern time) on Thursday, April 22, 1999. Please note below that the Pell Grant User Support Hotline (800) 4PGRANT will be open for services on Friday. Customer Support Inquiry Service (800) 433-7327 will be closed on Friday, April 23. This service is manned by Federal OSFA employees located within the closed area. A recorded message will be used referring callers to the Federal Student Aid Information Center.
