PublicationDate: 10/5/98 Summary: New Information Regarding the Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS) Author: PSS - Program Systems Service Posted October 5, 1998 To: All EDE Destination Points From: U.S. Department of Education Re: New Information Regarding the Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS) The Department is pleased to announce that Action Letter # 2, (P-98-4) describing the new 1999-2000 Recipient and Financial Management System (RFMS) for reporting and requesting funds under the Federal Pell Grant Program has been posted on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site - http://ifap.ed.gov. This letter details the new reporting process and provides an overview of the new RFMS. Two key attachments are included with this letter. The first is the latest revised data record format file layouts and the second, is an RFMS calendar of upcoming activities. Also, a Dear Colleague letter (P-98-5) inviting institutions to consider volunteering to participate in a Pell Grant pilot of the Just-In-Time payment method in the 1999-2000 award has been posted on the IFAP Web site. Please review this letter and carefully consider whether your institution wishes to volunteer to participate in this pilot project. If your institution is interested in further information on the Just-In-Time pilot, please forward your request to the following E-mail address: #pell_systems@ed.gov. We also wish to announce that all 1999-2000 RFMS Action and Dear Colleague letters, latest file layouts, presentations, presentation handouts, the fact sheet, and other RFMS information posted on IFAP will soon be accessible under one location on the "Bookshelf" called "Pell Grant Process."
