RE: New FAFSA on the Web Release

The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce a new release of FAFSA on Web. With this version, three new browsers have been certified for use with the web site -- Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, and Netscape Navigator 4.51. The complete list of browsers certified for use with FAFSA on the Web now include:

Netscape Navigator 3.0 -- 3.04 (Windows 3.1/95/98, Windows NT, and Macintosh)
Netscape Navigator 4.0 -- 4.04 (Windows 3.1/95/98, and Windows NT)
Netscape Navigator 4.05 -- 4.07 (Windows 3.1/95/98, Windows NT, and Macintosh)
Netscape Navigator 4.08 -- 4.51 (Windows 95/98, Windows NT, and Macintosh)

Microsoft browsers:
Internet Explorer 4.0 and 4.01 with Service Pack 1 or 2 (Windows 95/98, and Windows NT)
Internet Explorer 5.0 (Windows 95/98, and Windows NT)

With this version, the Department is also introducing a new browser policy for this web site. On a quarterly basis, the Department of Education will evaluate new browser versions and certify them for use with FAFSA on the Web. If a new browser version is released in the interim, the Department will allow these users to access and use the site at their own risk. Although the Department is confident that the majority of new, uncertified browsers will function well with the site, it is possible that some applicants using uncertified browsers may encounter problems while entering an application. For additional information or assistance, please contact FAFSA on the Web Customer Service at 1-800-801-0576 / TDD 1-800-511-5806.
