The Direct Loan Origination Center has begun sending out a new message class to assist institutions with the 95-96 and 96-97 reconciliation processes. Some Direct Lending institutions have begun receiving DIS197OP files. Schools using the EDExpress software will need to set this message class up in EDExpress to be able to import the file. Within the 96-97 EDExpress software, go to Tools|Setup|Direct Loan|Servicer Imports. For Import Report Name, type "748 Reconciliation Report" and click OK to save the update. Go to File|Import|Direct Loan. You will now have an option on your Import Type for the 748 Reconciliation Report you just created. Import the DIS197OP file normally. After import a reconciliation report will be printed. In the future, the LOC may send out this report for 97-98 reconciliation issues. If you receive a DIS198OP file in the future, you will need to set this report up in EDExpress. Within the 97-98 EDExpress software, go to Tools|Setup|Direct Loan|LOC Imports. Type in "748 Reconciliation Report" and OK to save the update. Go to Import and choose this as your import option. After import the DIS198OP file will print out. You will be notified prior to these files being sent out for the 97-98 year. You may also print off this report by opening up the DIS197OP file in a text editor or word processor and printing out the file. This file is formatted as a text file and will print out properly through any word processor.
