RE: Mailing Status Update on 98-99 Renewal Applications

The CPS began printing and mailing non-EDE requested 98-99 Renewal Applications
directly to students on November 26, 1997. Having started mailing on the East Coast,
we are now mailing applications in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and
Missouri. CPS has mailed approximately 3.8 million of the 7 million Renewal
Applications that will be distributed for this processing cycle. We estimate the
mailing will be completed by January 2, 1998.
