Re: EDExpress Renaming Files after Importing

There have been questions regarding the renaming of files after the files are
imported into EDExpress (for example: SARA97OP to SARA97BK). This
feature was added to EDExpress at the request of users. By renaming
imported files, the pick list associated with a message class will be shorter and
easier to manage because it displays only files to be imported. This allows
users to differentiate between files to be imported and those already imported.

In version 2.2 of EDExpress for Windows, a change was implemented to
rename all import files sequentially. In version 4.3 of EDExpress for DOS,
the software was changed to serialize the files as well; however, this change
was not done for error files. To provide consistency within the software, a
change will be implemented in version 4.4 to rename the error files as well.

WINDOWS INSTRUCTIONS

To view a pick list of ALL files for a message class, select FILE | IMPORT.
Click on the Import Type, down arrow and highlight the correct file type.
Click on FILE in the IMPORT FROM box. Change the default file name
from OP.* to *.* (for example: SARA97OP.* to SARA97*.*).

To view a pick list of already imported files for a message class, select FILE |
IMPORT. Click on the Import Type, down arrow and highlight the correct
file type. Click on FILE in the IMPORT FROM box. Change the default file
name from OP.* to BK.* (for example: SARA97OP.* to SARA97BK.*).

DOS INSTRUCTIONS

To view a pick list of ALL files for a message class, within Application
Processing module, select IMPORT, the type of data (ie, ISIR, errors), and
finally the specific data you want to view. Once the data entry box displays,
change the default file name to *.DAT to *.* (for example: SARA97*.DAT
to SARA97*.*).

To view a pick list of already imported files for a message class, within
Application Processing module, select IMPORT, the type of data (ie, ISIR,
errors), and finally the specific data you want to view. Once the data entry
box displays, change the default file name to *.DAT to BK.* (for example:
SARA97*.DAT to SARA97BK.*).

In both software platforms, you change the Import File default in Set Up | File
Maintenance to whatever works best for your destination point.
