PublicationDate: 7/23/99 Summary: EDExpress Patch for Resolving Direct Loan, Pell Import Errors Author: CPS - Central Processing System (CPS) Posted on July 23, 1999 TO: All Destination Points FROM: CPS Customer Service RE: EDExpress Patch for Resolving Direct Loan, Pell Import Errors We are in the process of developing a software patch file to resolve Direct Loan and Pell import errors in EDExpress Version 5.3. This patch file will be available for FTP download NLT July 30th, 1999, and will resolve two recently discovered issues in Version 5.3. It will overwrite DLL files on your PC workstations that are generating the import error messages. The two issues resolved by the patch are explained below: 1) If you attempt to import a large number of records into the Direct Loan module, you may receive an "Out of Memory" or "Can't open any more tables" error. The actual number of records necessary to trigger one of these errors will vary depending on your available system resources. This problem is caused by a memory leak and will be resolved once you install the forthcoming patch. 2) As conveyed in a network message earlier this week, batch integrity errors are being generated when importing Pell Origination acknowledgement files for more than 175 records or Pell Disbursement acknowledgements for more than 97 records. Once the patch file is installed, you will be able to import these files and any future acknowledgement files for any number of Pell Origination and/or Disbursement records. We will send another follow-up message the week of July 26th informing you of the availability of the patch and how to download and install it on your system. We apologize for any inconvenience these issues may have caused. If you have any questions, please call 800-330-5947, and select option 3 (for Direct Loan) or option 4 (for Pell).
