RE: Direct Loan and Packaging EDExpress Issues

We wish to advise you of two known issues in the Direct Loan and Packaging modules
of version 3.6 of EDExpress for Windows. Workarounds are offered below for both
issues:

1) Direct Loan: Several users have reported incorrect SSN's printing on promissory
notes. This is occurring because users are making electronic corrections to initial ISIRs
to correct the current SSN field (as a result of a student filing a FAFSA under the wrong
SSN).

The import of the resultant correction ISIR into EDExpress updates the SAR/ISIR tab;
however, information on the DEMO tab is not updated by subsequent ISIR correction
imports. When a promissory note is printed the SSN is generated from the Current SSN
field on the DEMO tab, not the SSN field on the corrected ISIR.

Workaround: Users need to manually update the Current SSN field on the DEMO tab
after the ISIR correction is imported but before the record is originated. This will allow a
promissory note to be printed with the correct SSN.

This requirement will be implemented in the 98-99 cycle.

2) Packaging: Queries seeking specific State of Legal Residence values in Packaging
setup will not identify any new ISIRs imported into Packaging after upgrading to Version
3.6.

Workaround: If you currently use a Packaging query containing State of Legal
Residence and will be importing more ISIRs into the Packaging module, you can set up a
new query using Permanent State (Mailing) and replace the old query in any applicable
setups or funds.

If you are concerned about any records where State of Legal Residence does not match
the Permanent State, define two queries under ISIRs where:
1) State of Legal Residence equals your State Code AND Permanent
State does not equal your State Code and;
2) Permanent State equals your State Code AND State of Legal
Residence does not equal your State Code.

Print the ISIRs that meet these selection criteria and manually adjust these records (you
can use multiple entry to make these changes). If you will not be importing any more
ISIRs into Packaging, any queries containing State of Legal Residence will not be
affected.
