RE: Changes to CPS Voice Processing System

Beginning Monday, January 18, 1998, options on the CPS voice processing system (VPS) will change. This change is being made to make it easier for users to reach a CPS Customer Service representative who can best answer a specific question. The major change involves placing the most frequently used options at the beginning and listing all customer service areas on one menu. The option to transfer to other Title IV Systems (such as Title IV WAN Customer Service or the Loan Origination Center) will be removed so users do not inadvertently use it and get charged for the transfer. Users now need to directly call each Title IV System's Customer Service Number.

The new VPS options are listed below. You will be presented with these options each time you call CPS Customer Service at 1-800-330-5947. Options 2-8 will connect you to a Customer Service Representative.

Option 1: CPS Automated Customer Service - check application or batch status, listen to information on reject, comment or assumption override codes or request faxes

Option 2: Application Processing - assistance with EDE Certification Testing, EDExpress for Windows installation, Global and Application Processing modules of EDExpress, CPS On-line Query, Renewal Application Processing, EDE Technical Reference, FAFSA Application Status and CPS Batch Status

Option 3: Direct Loan - assistance with Direct Loan module of EDExpress for Windows and Direct Loan Technical Reference

Option 4: Pell Payment - assistance with Pell Payment module of EDExpress and Pell Payment for Windows software

Option 5: SSCR - assistance with SSCR module of EDExpress, SSCR for Windows software and SSCR Technical Reference

Option 6: Quality Assurance Program - assistance with QAP for Windows software and programmatic questions
