OSFAP ANNOUNCEMENT

Subject: Announcing Spring Training '99: Reauthorization and RFMS

We are pleased to announce Spring Training ’99, a series of nationwide workshops sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Student Financial Assistance Programs. This series of workshops includes one day of training on the l998 Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, and one day of training on the new Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS).

The Reauthorization day will focus on the key elements of the 1998 Higher Education Amendments signed into law on October 7, l998. The trainers will use lecture, group discussion, and exercises to present the information.

The RFMS day will feature the new process of requesting and reporting on Federal Pell Grant funds using the 1999-2000 Recipient Financial Management System. Beginning July 1, 1999, this new reporting system will be required for all Pell schools. This day will also include hands-on training on the EDExpress Pell software, using simulations and exercises.

You will be able to register for the Reauthorization day, the RFMS day, or for both days.

Training begins on April 7 and will continue through July 16. Both ED Regional Training Facilities (RTFs) and schools will host the training.

For more information on the training content and locations, and to register for a workshop, go to the Training Information page.
